This makes me so excited! I desperately need something light, bright and totally breezy in this chaotic world, and this shows seems like it will fill that purpose. I’m so glad Meghan is able to reconnect to her roots, because as a Tig girl once upon a time, I’m so so excited!
Oh I am so excited for this! I’m ready for a little “romancing the ordinary” and finding “magic in the mundane”. I can’t think of anything better to watch over the next week. Looking forward to your episode breakdowns and think we absolutely have to make some of the recipes.
Oh - I saw where Meghan surprised some longtime Tig supporters at a screening in NY. I wonder who those folks are and how they knew who to invite??! Any thoughts/intel??
After reading your newsletter I went on to read the (not entirely surprising and almost unanimous) negative reviews. And then I started watching. I’m 70 and a retired teacher - not the intended audience for this type of high end life style show. And yet, I found her lovely and, honestly, brave to put herself out there when she knows that even the most innocuous things she says and does, get lambasted. I look forward to the rest of the episodes.
The guests, garden trips and including the crew/breaking the fourth wall makes it sounds a lot like Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines. Not a negative, I watch every episode!
I love cooking shows and have since I was a kid. I'm a couple episodes in and don't want to share spoilers buy I love this. It's like Ina Garten meets Giada. There's an easy breezy quality that meets with relatable which meets hosting and fashion. Her joy really shines through and it feels super authentic to me. I hope they do more episodes.
I’m so excited to watch her new show! It seems so natural and relatable and tasty too! Plus, I am looking forward to your commentary along the way too! Thank you, Elizabeth!
Much like YOU, I am genuinely happy for HER- goodness she needs a win. I am unabashedly a champion for you because…idk? I enjoy/support/respect you?! But it’s worth it! I feel the same for her and Harry.
I have been looking for a way to savor this show because I knew it was going to be a highlight and making the recipes alongside you lovely folks sounds absolutely perfect! I truly cannot wait!!
I am a savorer at heart and so would not have binged this! I am glad I did, because I wanted to write about it :) but looking forward to revisiting it with the recipes in hand a chance to pause and study the fashion.
I very much enjoyed your take on everything before it comes out - this was such a surprising treat to find in my inbox so I thank you for your sacrifice :) :)
So glad you liked it ! Was very sad to see two take down - 1 star reviews in the Guardian - I still don’t get why everyone in the UK seems to STILL be so against her. Ah well. Their loss and really looking forward to watching episode at a time and following along together - and yes please do doing some recipes !!!
Can I ask you a question Elizabeth? How much do you think this matters for Meghan? Like obviously we all want things we have put a lot work into to succeed, but if it’s panned by critics or has low viewing numbers do you think she will dust herself off and keep going? Do you think this is “make or break” for her public facing work? I’ve not watched yet but looking forward to it! Once kids are in bed!!
Hi Eliza, I think this is a long-term business for Meghan. I think she separated the show and product line names as a way to mitigate the risk — so even if the show isn't a hit, the products can continue? If that makes sense? Also, Meghan's As Ever email this morning seemed to hint at the inevitable bumps in a journey like this. She talked about breaking eggs to make an omelette. I'm sure, as we have seen so far, that there will be some ups and downs, just like with anything. But Meghan does seem committed to this space / venture going forward.
This type of show is definitely not me but I will watch because it sounds fun and a nice break from life's challenges. Was wondering if you have thought about doing a SMT on Mindy Kaling? I recently watched "Running Point" and saw she was one of the creators. A fascinating and talented women it would be interesting to know more about.
Am I considering taking a mental health day tomorrow to binge the show? Yes, yes I am.

I literally cannot be more excited for this show - we need to see black women at ease in the home. I love an episode discussion - bring it on!

Thank you for this nudge, Nancy. There is a cake in episode one that looked DELICIOUS. I think that will be my first attempt...
Can’t wait to watch. I will savor them over time. 🩵

I saw that, too. Trying to find out details!

The reviews in the UK are brutal.

Thanks for your thoughts! I’ve just spotted the As Ever email in my junk folder! I wonder if she will ship internationally!

I'm dying to talk about the show-- will there be another post for that? Or should we chat here? I have *so many thoughts*!
Hitting send shortly on a discussion thread post!!
