💭 What Do I Wear? Spring 2025 Edition

Raise your hand if you are watching White Lotus? The buzz around this show is so considerable that I — the world’s least timely television viewer — have managed to catch each episode shortly after it drops. Sooooo many thoughts on the storylines this season…😬 but the resort-wear? Swoon! We are headed on our family’s first island vacation in a few weeks and it’s the perfect inspo.
I began hunting for swimsuits and thought perhaps it was time for another one of our What Do I Wear? discussions. Spring tends to start slow but before you know it, here comes May-cember with a million things to do. Let’s get ahead of it, shall we?
Consider this a group thread to answer any and all fashion questions. In search of a new tote? Wondering what to wear to brunch? How about the right socks for your new sneakers? Anything style-related is encouraged. (Need ideas? Here are the convos from spring and fall of last year.) I will jump in with my thoughts — and I hope you offer up suggestions to one another, too! One gentle suggestion: The more information you can offer up, the better. Wondering what to wear to a wedding? Add the time of day and location if you feel comfortable sharing, or even something about the style of the bride. Looking for a white T-shirt? Tell us what kind of fit you prefer. That way we can all tailor our recommendations accordingly.
I will kick things off with two style questions of my own, one about that aforementioned vacation 🏝️ and another about a big weekend I have coming up in May, which includes our elementary school’s annual (themed! costume!) gala and a very exciting concert…🤠

Ok! Let’s get to those What Do I Wear? questions. Have a trip booked? Or a graduation coming up? Outfit planning is one of my favorite things to do, so let’s think through the options together.

Question 2: GIDDY UP. The theme of our school costume gala is “Country” and that same weekend I have tickets to BEYONCE. So! This Midwest-born, West Coast-dwelling girl has to head south. Hoping to find pieces that work for both, though the concert will be much sparklier than the school event. This is LA, however, and our school tends to go BIG with their looks. (Last year the theme was 20s and I went full flapper, headband and all.)
I have a clearer sense of Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter aesthetic. The “country” theme for school feels VERY broad. My sister Carolyn, who lives in TN, and I started swapping inspo pics of a young Dolly Parton. A friend offered up Patsy Cline, too. I am planning to buy secondhand here in LA or online, but if there are any brands I should look for or colors/styles/silhouettes, that would be so helpful. THANK YOU!
My first question is about SWIMSUITS! 👙 Where are we buying our swimsuits? I had one for years I *loved* from J.Crew but it’s finally given up. I also still like the wrap styles I have from Summersault. But could use a new one or two for our trip.
On the hunt now for two different types: A low-cut long torso one piece, ideally in a print (why are so many bathing suits solids??) as well as a high-waisted two piece with a triangle or plunge top. Also in a print! Tempted to mix-and-match the way Leslie Bibb’s character does on White Lotus. Oh, and also: full bum coverage, always. 🙃
