The trip of a lifetime! Should you partner with Atlas Adventures again and the planets align for me, count me in. I so enjoyed following the excursions - and fashion! Your intentional style is inspiring. Thank you, thank you for sharing. PS - May I ask how many suitcases you packed? PPS - I was lucky enough to eat at Dishoom King’s Cross and still dream about it six years later.

Hi Marlo, thank you for your kind words. I’ll be honest, I brought too much stuff. I packed two suitcases — mostly because coats! And then space to bring home things for the kids. But since we were staying in one place the whole time, it was pretty easy to make my way to the hotel on the Heathrow Express and park the suitcases there.

It was a magical week! I love reading about the thought and intention behind each of your outfits. I came home and immediately bought two pair of the J.Crew loafers! Thank you for putting this together and huge thank you to Whitney and Lucy for being the best travel guides!

Upgraded because I HAVE to know about the next trip first, haha. How many pairs of shoes did you pack, total? ❤️

Great Q! I didn't bring any boots, which take up a lot of space and can be heavy. So instead I bought alllll the others LOL. Seven? Three heels, two loafers, sneakers, and a pair of Mary Janes. One trick I learned from my days covering fashion week is if you are on your feet / walking a lot then try to switch shoes every day. Even if they aren't all comfortable, a new pair of shoes won't rub or hurt in the same way as another, if that makes sense? The change keeps the pain at bay (typing that sounds ridiculous, I realize!)

No, that makes perfect sense!! If I’m able to go on the next trip, I’m going to give myself the luxury to pack exactly what I want - haha. I am team carryon typically, but solo travel opens up that fun possibility!

Would love to have you on the next trip!! When I wrote that story for the FT, I looked back at when I made the switch - it was definitely when I had kids, and had to start bringing all their stuff while still cramming mine into a carry-on. That's mostly how I travel when we're all together, but it has meant that when I travel solo I get to indulge the ~fashion~ side of me a bit more. :)

I would have loved to come! I was so disappointed that I had a wedding when the trip was scheduled. I hope there is another trip somewhere as I would love to travel with a group and get to meet you. I enjoyed all the highlights of the trip.

What a great recap!! It looks like it was an incredible trip. I’m eyeing your J.Crew loafers, and have been looking for something similar to wear to work. Did you find them to be comfortable for lots of walking? Did they run small or large on you? They look so chic, but I’m often running around for work, so need something really wearable, too!

Hi Sarah, I'm wearing my usual 7.5. I was amazed when I first slipped them on that they were as comfortable as they were right out of the box. That said, I wore them with socks around my house before the trip to test them, then with no-show socks from Target while I was in London. Also, I wore them for a half day before the full-day outing to Hampton Court. We did a lot of walking! (FWIW: Another person on the trip bought them and said they were very comfortable for her.)
