Shop the Most Stylish Looks from The Crown
Seven standout fashion moments from the fifth season, reimagined with pieces today.
Welcome to So Many Thoughts, a semi-weekly newsletter about royal style and the other parts of life I want to think through with you. You can subscribe here and follow me on Instagram at @EHolmes. Thank you!
“Would you consider doing a round up of where to find these hunting jackets the royals always wear?” read a DM last week, along with a photo of Dominic West and Olivia Williams as Charles and Camilla.
WELL! If that wasn’t the start of a glorious shopping rabbit hole. Below I’ve pulled some of my favorite looks from the fifth season of The Crown and scoured the internet for similar lookalikes. Jackets and blazers and sweaters, oh my! All so good. Happy shopping. 👑

COUNTRY CHIC
A relaxed, outdoorsy jacket is the key to the quintessential royal casual look. Pair these picks with some wellies or riding boots, then find a field to tromp through in style.
A classic barn coat from a classic American brand
Love this lighter style that you can cinch at the waist
A heavier version that is giving me “shacket” vibes in the best way
A bit darker but had to share because it’s Kate’s go-to style
BUSINESS FASHIONABLE
I love how Diana’s style has evolved this season to a more sophisticated place, just as it did IRL as the princess progressed through the 1990s. Still, it’s not not fun — and yes, I am talking about that pink button down!
Everyone needs a classic navy blazer (and it’s 20% off right now)
I have to believe Diana would love the feather cuffs on this pink shirt
These chain link hoops are under $15
Very into the contemporary mesh strap on this gold watch
OUT FOR REVENGE
I am begging one — just one — of you to channel Diana and turn up at a holiday party in this dress! Revenge can be very loosely defined here, does not have to be aimed at a cheating spouse. Think of the people in your life you can clap back at with stunner. 😉
This splurge of a black dress is such a great lookalike — and on sale!
If you’d rather just hint at the whole Diana vibe, try this pearl choker
Give a nod to your favorite ginger with red nail polish in a shade called “Red Heads Ahead”
A black clutch that comes with a chain strap for all your over-the-shoulder needs
TRENDING TURTLES
Raise your hand if you noticed how often the princess wore turtlenecks in the fifth season. All the time, and I loved it. This styles replaced the pie crust collars of Diana's early royal days, and gave her a decidedly more confident vibe. My favorite were a pair of sleeveless styles, one black and one camel, that she wore in scenes set at Kensington Palace.
This camel collar has so many fun styling possibilities
A mock black turtle allows for maximum layering
Very into the slight chunky vibe of these gold hoops
For when you want to up the drama, try this waterproof eyeliner (from a brand Diana loved)
SAILAWAY STYLE
I’m not sure what it says about my eye for style, but I loved both Diana and Charles’s cruise ensembles in the opening episode. Two sides of the fashion coin.
This floral dress is from one of Kate’s favorite brands
Are we doing skinny sunnies now? Hmmm, I am tempted...
If you are feeling studious, try this double-breasted blazer
A vintage twist on brown aviators
POWER TRIP
I bought a red blazer years ago and — let me tell you! — it feels so damn good to wear. The combo of black and red, too, feels so powerful.
This cropped red blazer would look fabulous with jeans and a tee…
…or layered over this collared sweater (I have it in navy and adore it)
This cardigan is a (very good) dupe of a Saint Laurent piece
Are we into knotted studs? I say yes, especially when they are on mega sale with early Black Friday pricing
MAD FOR PLAID
The degree to which I want Diana’s Christmas Day coat dress is rather unhealthy. Gosh, it’s good, isn’t it? Cue Mariah Carey and grab a hot toddy, it’s holiday time.
You can dip a toe in with this plaid blazer…
...or go all in with the matching trousers, too
A festive twist on the fan-favorite Nap Dress (30% off right now!)
And — deep breaths — THE COAT comes in red, how fabulous is this?
One bit of housekeeping before I sign off: The So Many Thoughts newsletter is moving! And I’m taking you all with me. :) No need to do anything on your end. You will get an email from me later this week from our new home over at Substack. I am so excited for this next chapter. More soon!
