Come on Barbie, let’s market a movie! Never have I ever been so enthralled with a press tour as I was the campaign to promote the Barbie movie. Star Margot Robbie, styled by Andrew Mukamal, toured the globe recreating looks from the doll’s history. As I said on Instagram, I had been extremely skeptical of this Barbie moment — but this thoughtful approach to dressing won me over, big time.
It also inspired a new take on my ‘So many thoughts’ — or SMTs, for short. Below you will find my Instagram commentary on seven of Robbie’s appearances. As always, I find it so helpful to see these looks compiled sequentially. Slideshow dressing at its best! Mukamal really brought it all together here, with a cohesive progression that managed to keep each individual look amazingly true to the doll that inspired it.
